Over the past 4 months or so I have been putting this eye-specific serum to the test to see if it delivers on the claims it promises.
As you know by now I love coffee and I do enjoy the energy boosting benefits that the caffeine in coffee brings so I was very curious if I would see a similar boosting effect on my skin when applied topically.
Before we get into my experience here are the basic facts about this product:
Cost: $6.70 for 30ml/1oz
Where to Buy: Online, Sephora, or in person at select retails stores. There is a Deciem Store in the Miami Design District, where I purchased my bottle.
Claims: This serum claims to reduce under -eye circles, pigmentation in the eye contour area, and reduce under-eye puffiness.
How to Use: After cleansing and toning your face, apply a few drops on your ring finger and then gently smooth the product under your eyes. It does not say this on the bottle but sometimes I like to use this serum with the smallest end of a cool jade roller. I leave this serum to soak in for 2-5 minutes and then I apply my under eye cream.
My Experience: While the bottle says to use this product both day and night I honestly have been using it mostly just in the day because that is when I want/need the de-puffing benefits that it promises. After about 4 months of use I still have a ton of product left in the bottle and I imagine this will last me another few months or so. I have definitely seen an improvement in the puffiness of my under-eye area and although not mentioned as a benefit, I have seen some reduction in the fine lines under my eyes as well. As far as reduction of dark circles, I think they are still there and their darkness depends on how much sleep I’ve had, how stressed I am, and if I have been eating well. These are just my observations and shouldn’t be taken as facts for every situation or body. The serum also says it can reduce the appearance of pigmentation in the eye contour area and it is not 100% clear if they mean Melasma or hyperpigmentation or if they are referencing the dark circles again. Either way, I don’t have Melasma under my eyes so much so I can’t speak to the effectiveness for that condition. Overall, I really enjoy the de-puffing action this serum provides and I think it has helped me firm my under eye slightly. I would have to say one of my favorite things about this product is how it feels while being applied. It gives almost a cooling sensation, especially when used in combination with my jade roller. I really like having it in my skincare routine. I would/will repurchase this product whenever I run out. I would recommend this product if you want to give your under eye area a little more TLC and given the low cost, it’s not a huge risk. If you are sensitive to caffeine though, this might not be for you.
