I’m bringing back my Friday Five series. Woo! *Does the wave internally*
This week I am sharing the 5 books that are currently on my TBR (To Be Read) or that I am currently in progress of reading. I got such an amazing response from my recent posts on Instagram and YouTube related to creating more book- related content so here you go!
Let me know if you would like to see/hear reviews of these books and also let me know which books you are loving right now.
P.S. I also created a GoodReads account which you can follow here: https://www.goodreads.com/courtneyval
1. The Handmaid’s Tale
This is the dystopian book filled with women’s issues, sex, and scandals. They also made a show that is available on Hulu. Once I finish the book I will have to find someone I know who has a Hulu account so I can watch the show.
I am currently on page 44 of this book. Stay tuned!
2. The Chemist
This is a mystery thriller about a former government agent who is on the run from her former (corrupt) employer.
I am on page 30 of this book and I’m finding it a little hard to get into this book but I will finish it and provide a review. Hopefully it picks up soon!
3. West Of Sunset
This book is a fiction work about what happened to F.Scott Fitzgerald after he wrote The Great Gatsby. His wife is in an asylum, he’s struggling with addiction, and money is scarce so he heads to Hollywood to try and recoup his fortune and fame.
I am on page 50 of this book so stay tuned for a full review. P.S. I got this book at Dollar Tree!
4. Sea Creatures
This is another book I picked up at Dollar Tree. I’m excited to read it because it takes place in Miami during hurricane season. I live in Miami AND it’s hurricane season right now. Spoopy!
5. Business Boutique
I have actually already finished this book as I downloaded the audio version to listen to while I was a model for an eyelash extension class. I give it /5 coffee cups. The author did a good job of connecting with listeners from the very beginning but I found the book to be too full of her personal stories and thoughts and not enough applicable knowledge. This is not one of those books that will say to you, “Look. You need to do this, this, and this.” This book will wind around the ideas and eventually you’ll figure out maybe, kind of what you need to do. I think if you are a very beginner in the business world this book will provide you with some comfort but if you have so much as googled “How to start a business” this book will leave you feeling a little empty. Have you read it? Am I missing something? Let me know in a comment!
Let me know what books you are loving right now and I will add them to my list. I am also thinking about doing a Booktube series aka where you talk about books on YouTube. Thoughts?
Have a great weekend and I’ll talk to you again soon!
Let’s Stay In Touch!
